Become a Mentee
Your Ambition Deserves a Place to Grow
A career in international affairs can be exciting, meaningful and full of possibilities, but finding your way into the field is not always straightforward. Some questions can only be answered through experience, and some opportunities are easier to recognise when someone helps you see them.
As a WIIS Austria mentee, you will have the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with a professional in the field, gain first-hand perspectives on different career paths, and receive honest, personalised advice as you navigate your own ambitions.
But mentorship is about more than career advice. It is about having a space to ask questions, explore possibilities, exchange ideas and learn from someone who has been there before. Along the way, you will meet other ambitious women and become part of a community that can broaden both your perspective and your network.
Come with questions. Leave with new perspectives, meaningful connections and a clearer sense of where you want to go next.

Application Process
1. Apply
September-October
Tell us who you are, what drives you and what you hope to gain from the programme. Submit your application through the Google Doc during the annual application period.
2. Meet Us
November
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a pre-interview with the WIIS Austria team. This is an opportunity for us to learn more about your interests, ambitions and what you are looking for in a mentorship.
3. Find Your Match
November
Following the interviews, WIIS Austria selects suitable candidates and puts them forward to potential mentors. Mentors then make the final selection based on the interests and profiles of both sides.
4. Get Matched
December
You will be notified of the outcome as soon as the matching process is complete.
5. Begin Your Journey
January
The mentorship officially begins in January with the WIIS Austria opening ceremony, bringing mentees and mentors together for the start of nine months of exchange, learning and growth.
