Meet Eva Deible Siegl, our dedicated Co-President and a recent graduate of the Diplomatische Akademie Wien, specialising in European Law and International Relations. Originally from Spain, Eva’s background is rich and diverse, shaped by her experiences in various countries. With a strong passion for issues related to migration and innovation, she is on a mission to shatter barriers and create opportunities for more women to enter the realm of security. Her vision is clear: to promote diversity and gender equality in international security and empower women who are already making waves in the field. Fun facts: you will find her teaching zumba on the weekends and she loves to sail.

President

Alexandra Dienes

Alexandra is a political scientist and feels strongly about diplomacy, peace and social justice. After completing her PhD at the University of Amsterdam she moved to Vienna in 2017 to work at a newly founded foreign policy think-and-do-tank “Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe”, which is part of the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation. Alexandra focuses on challenges to European security that became particularly acute after Russia invaded Ukraine. In her work, she writes policy papers, directs regular public opinion polling, organises expert workshops, speaks at conferences and advises governments and the OSCE. In addition, Alexandra occasionally teaches at the university. Prior gigs brought Alexandra to the Caucasus, Central Asia and China and she also gathered work experience at the European Parliament as well as the German development agency. She misses women in her field and wants to contribute to enhancing their visibility and promoting their careers through WIIS. Fun facts: Alexandra spent the first half of her life in Moscow and is passionate about documentary filmmaking.
